Simply CC “Julie” at the start of or during an email thread with the person you want to schedule a meeting with, and, in theory, the virtual assistant will take care of the rest.
This includes offering up potential meeting times — pulled in from your Google Calendar, Microsoft Exchange, or iCloud account — confirming the agreed time and place, adding it to your schedule, and sending out the appropriate calendar invites.
Furthermore, all of this takes place via email, using human-friendly language, as if Julie is a real person.
This isn't the first virtual assistant application of its kind. A service called x.ai is in limited beta and their site is accepting emails to be added to a waiting list. And Clara Labs is available now, albeit at a higher cost (Julie Desk is $60 a month, Clara is between $300 and $500, and x.ai hasn't announced pricing yet).
I find this concept to be very compelling. The idea of cc'ing an email address and having it automatically respond and get to work automatically is awesome. I was even able to get my mom to start using Square Cash which works similarly, except used to send people money.
Email is far from dead.
